German Village Boudoir Photo Sessions by Brenda Kerns

There is so much to love about a neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio known as German Village.  It is well known for its charming brick houses and brick streets, art galleries and pubs, a variety of unique shops where you can buy books, fudge, ice cream and jewelry, to name a few.  There are numerous restaurants to feed you and coffee shops to revive you.  Plenty of sidewalks to meander down and a lovely park in the middle to people watch.  In the summer you can enjoy an outdoor Shakespeare performance in this park, Schiller Park, put on by The Actors’ Theater.  It is also possible to locate just the right location in German Village for a boudoir photo session!

We happened to locate a fabulous Air BnB right on Thurman Avenue, within a short walking distance to the infamous Thurman Cafe.  Similar to how different people give off different levels of energy, we noticed a high energy level inside the condo we rented.  It was exactly what we needed to photograph these three special women, Jacqui, Lacie and Tina.

MISS TINA

Even though Tina had a morning session, she showed up ready to work.  Since she had done a boudoir session before, she knew how much energy she needed to get through an hour in front of the camera.  And she was ready for it!  Tina was easy to photograph and continued to move in between my shutter clicks . Tina was open to trying anything and everything I suggested and was the very first client to be photographed in the shower!  We will be calling all future shower images, the “Tina”.  Thank you, Tina, for being prepared and willing to experiment!

MISS JACQUI

Jacqui brought it all!  Lingerie, accessories and props!  We will always think of German Village boudoir images and think of the variety of images we captured with Jacqui. For her western-themed images, she wore a hat, boots, even a holster!   To capture boudoir images of Jacqui that reflected the softer side of her she wore beautiful lavender lingerie.  I love capturing so many different styles with one beautiful woman during a boudoir session.

MISS LACIE

Lacie was noticeably nervous at the very beginning of her session.  She had recently lost a LOT of weight and was still working on identifying with her “new” body.  Her laugh and smile were infectious and it brought me such joy to show her how beautiful she looked through my lens.  As it is with most clients, the first 15 minutes of our session is the hardest.  Harder for her to relax in front of the camera.  Harder for her to trust my instructions and guidance.  And harder for me to convince her to be vulnerable.  But we turned the corner with Lacie – as we always do –  from a place of anxiousness and nervousness to a place where she was having fun and thoroughly enjoying the time in front of the camera.  I have no doubt that Lacie will continue in her journey to a healthier body and she will return for another Body Beautiful Boudoir session!

Our German Village Boudoir sessions are amongst our favorites!  We enjoy the energy of the neighborhood and the walkability to local shops and restaurants.  We look forward to scheduling additional German Village Boudoir sessions soon.
